Education Workshops

The Chapel Gallery Education Workshops are planned in connection with the exhibition programme and the National Curriculum. They are aimed at schools, colleges and other education facilities.

The sessions are either Full Day or Half Day and include practical sessions. Participants are encouraged to discuss their own ideas concerning the art on display in the gallery and become critically aware of the intentions of the artist. They develop their understanding of aesthetics and an ability to voice their own opinion.

The second part of the visit involves a hands-on practical session where participants are encouraged to create a piece of artwork inspired by what they have seen and discussed relating to the exhibition, either through skills and techniques that are used by the artists or through messages and statements that the artwork is trying to express. All of the sessions are linked to the Art and Design curriculum Key Stage 1, 2 & 3 and where appropriate cross-curricular links are made.
